Selwyn Metcalfe, comes from a family farming background and brings over four decades of real estate expertise, beginning his industry journey in 1980 in Hāwera. Following the sale of his business, Metcalfe Real Estate, in 2022, he continues in the role of Consultant and Licensed Agent.
In 2005 Selwyn was honoured with the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in recognition of his service to the community and sport. He is a Fellow of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand and a Justice of the Peace. He is currently and has served on a wide range of local, national and international, community and sporting committees and organisations, including past President of the Rotary Club of Hāwera and a layperson on the Taranaki Law Society’s Standards Committee. In 2006 he was appointed a Taranaki Regional Advisor to the New Zealand Community Trust Board and is currently serving as Chairperson.
In the sporting arena, Selwyn’s achievements include being a qualified international wrestling referee, officiating at four Commonwealth Games, and serving on the Organising Committee for Olympic Wrestling at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. Additionally, Selwyn is a former magician, with over 30 years of performing experience, including television appearances.
