Josh Hickford FCA, CMInstD

Chief Executive

A proud Taranaki local, Josh is passionate about helping people create lasting legacies for the region they love. As Chief Executive of Taranaki Foundation, he works alongside individuals, families, businesses and professional advisers to grow philanthropy that will benefit Taranaki for generations to come.

With a background in chartered accountancy spanning PwC and TSB Bank, Josh combines commercial thinking with a deep commitment to community. He also serves on the NZ Council and Trans-Tasman Council of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, bringing both local and national perspectives to his leadership.

Following his own experience with cancer, Josh found renewed purpose in giving back. He co-founded Ripple, a nationwide cancer support app, and has contributed to numerous community and charitable organisations through governance, leadership and advocacy.

Under Josh’s leadership, Taranaki Foundation has entered a significant period of growth, expanding its reach, partnerships and philanthropic impact across the region. His focus is simple – to inspire a culture of generosity where today’s giving creates opportunities for tomorrow.

Josh believes strong communities are built through collaboration. Whether working with donors, charities, iwi, businesses, professional advisers or local leaders, he is driven by the idea that when people come together around a shared purpose, extraordinary things happen.

He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors (CMInstD), a Trustee of Community Foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand, and a two times Kiwibank Local Hero Medallist.
