For over 35 years, the Taranaki Outdoor Pursuits & Education Centre (TOPEC) has been providing people of all ages with tailored, immersive outdoor experiences and a deep connection with te taiao. From river safety to mountain skills, TOPEC has empowered generations of children, youth and adults with life-changing opportunities in the outdoors.
The Need
TOPEC has been operating at maximum capacity for some time. Demand for their programmes continues to grow, and their facilities no longer match the scale of their impact. To ensure TOPEC can continue to serve the community, now and into the future, a vital new lodge is needed.
The Solution
In 2024, NP Partners, with the support of New Plymouth District Council (NPDC), committed to working alongside TOPEC to upgrade its facilities. Central to this vision is the construction of a new community lodge. This will be a space designed to welcome more people, enhance learning opportunities, and strengthen TOPEC’s ability to deliver transformational outdoor education.
The TOPEC Legacy Fund
The TOPEC Legacy Fund has been established to provide the fundraising infrastructure to bring this vision to life. The Fund will:
By contributing to the TOPEC Legacy Fund, you are not only supporting a new building, you are investing in the wellbeing, resilience, and confidence of thousands of people who will benefit from TOPEC’s programmes in the years ahead.
Together with NP Partners, NPDC, and our generous community, we can ensure TOPEC remains a place where learning, adventure, and connection with nature thrive.
