The vision and generosity of both Monica Brewster and Len Lye put New Plymouth and Taranaki on the global arts map – their respective legacies established the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery and the Len Lye Centre.
For over 50 years the Govett-Brewster has been presenting the latest global art and ideas to the people of New Plymouth. In 2015 the Len Lye Centre opened, funded by the generosity of many private and corporate donors, as the global home of Len Lye’s life and work. The Gallery is looking forward to an even more remarkable future, and seeks support to ensure it continues to drive the aspirations of the region through opportunities to engage with leading contemporary art and thinking.
Taking its name from a Len Lye quote, the Swingiest Fund for Generations of Art Lovers was established by the Friends of the Gallery to ensure ongoing support for the Govett-Brewster and its collections, exhibitions, and events.
