Taranaki Foundation is a charitable community foundation created for the people of Taranaki, by the people of Taranaki. Our vision is to grow the prosperity of our region through community giving, partnerships, and philanthropy.
We connect donors with the people, causes and projects they care about – whether that’s creating an endowment fund or scholarship, leaving a gift in a Will, establishing a fund in memory of a loved one, or supporting a cause close to their heart – so every gift creates lasting impact.
Our funding model is simple but powerful: gifts are invested, with the returns distributed as grants while the original donations continue to grow, providing support for generations to come.
Our strategic 10-year goal is to grow our funds to $150 million by 2035, so we can distribute $3 million annually to support community organisations. Strengthen partnerships and address the most pressing needs across Taranaki – ensuring a thriving, generous region for generations to come.

A long-standing agricultural education trust worth $14.5 million is poised to more than double the Taranaki Foundation’s investment resources.
Funds of the Bashford-Nicholls Trust have been transferred from the 20-year-old Bishop’s Action Foundation (BAF) to the Taranaki Foundation, where they will be invested and managed by locally.
