As a long-time supporter of communities across NZ, in 2019 Craigs developed a thoughtful giving programme with Community Foundations of NZ (CFNZ) to support the Taranaki community through a partnership with Taranaki Foundation.

Over the past few years, the Craigs New Plymouth team have directed money to local charities instead of sending out Christmas gifts. Craigs employees have the opportunity to participate in the Workplace Giving program, with Craigs matching employee donations dollar for dollar. “We see the huge benefit and impact of giving to those areas within the community with the greatest needs”, says local Craigs Investment Adviser Christine Egarr.

This year the New Plymouth branch have decided they would like their $5,500 Christmas donation to go through Taranaki Foundation to the Little Fighters Charitable Trust, Box Office Boxing, Horses Helping Humans Taranaki, and New Plymouth Riding for the Disabled.

The generosity of the Craigs team is so appreciated by these local organisations, as they have shared with Taranaki Foundation:

We are delighted to receive this generous donation from Craigs Investment Partners as part of their Christmas Giving programme. We will be replacing several of our horse covers and bridles with this funding. Our horse will surely appreciate it, as will of course everyone involved. This has been a challenging year but we have continued to provide riding sessions for close to 100 young people during the year.” Kevin Nielsen, New Plymouth Riding for the Disabled.

Our horses are our greatest asset and without them we couldn’t deliver the programme. Ensuring they are healthy, happy and of a calm mindset means that they can deliver the programme safely and effectively. We are so grateful to Craigs Investment Partners for their generous donation towards our annual hay bill. It enables our herd of six horses to continue creating powerful change in Taranaki’s most vulnerable young people – strengthening their self-confidence; teaching them valuable self-regulation tools; and enhancing their mental well-being.” Laura Menzies, Lead Facilitator, Horses Helping Humans Taranaki.

We as a charity are most grateful for the donation from Craig’s Investment Partners as the last couple of years have been particularly tough from a fundraising perspective due to COVID 19. This kind donation will directly contribute to the our family support. On behalf of my committee I would like to thank Craig’s Investment Partners for their support.” Darrin West, Little Fighters Trust

“Merry Christmas and thank you so much for your Christmas spirit of giving. Our Boxing club works with a lot of tamariki, many who struggle with living costs every day.  This grant is greatly appreciated as it will help with our three programmes where we input into these tamariki.  Youth Academy (8-12 years), Junior Boxing (12-18) and our school leavers Development Programme.” Cath Tippett, Box Office Boxing.

Thank you to the team at Craigs for showing that giving a little often really does make a difference locally. Workplace giving is a very powerful way for our community to support itself and build a strong legacy for the future.
