Destination Kāwaroa Legacy Fund

Destination Kāwaroa is a New Plymouth Partners project in partnership with Taranaki Foundation, New Plymouth District Council and mana whenua of Ngāmotu, Ngāti Te Whiti. It is a legacy asset designed to create a family-friendly, inclusive space that celebrates the unique nature, culture, histories, and stories of this treasured coastal site.

What began as the vision of Bryce Barnett has grown into a remarkable community-driven initiative. Since the opening of Stage One in December 2024, Destination Kāwaroa has become a thriving hub, with up to 2,000 people enjoying the area daily. This free, accessible play space has already made a significant impact, fostering connection, recreation, and cultural engagement.

To preserve and enhance Destination Kāwaroa for future generations, a dedicated legacy fund has been established.  The Destination Kāwaroa Fund enables individuals, families, businesses, trusts, and visitors to contribute, ensuring that this community asset continues to thrive.
