Congratulations to the 2023 Rudi Milesi Scholarship Recipients!
11 January 2024We’re thrilled to announce that Zoe Carter and Tayla Steele have been selected as the latest recipients of the annual Rudi Milesi Scholarship gifted through Taranaki Foundation.
Zoe, a dedicated student who recently completed her final year at Te Paepae O Aotea school in Hāwera, embodies the school’s values, particularly ‘Paepae,’ which emphasises learning from mistakes and respecting others’ opinions. Zoe’s ambition to become a veterinarian aligns with her commitment to learning, growing and contributing to Taranaki’s community after her studies at Massey University.
Zoe’s pursuit of her lifelong dream to study veterinary science at Massey University showcases her hard work in meeting all the required criteria with exceptional enthusiasm and grades. Expressing her joy upon receiving the scholarship, Zoe said, “This scholarship means so much as I know that I have people supporting me and helping me with my tertiary education which has been my dream for many years.”
Tayla Steele, a previous recipient of the Rudi Milesi scholarship in 2022, commenced her Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Massey University in 2023. Taranaki Foundation is proud to continue supporting Tayla’s outstanding commitment. Her selection into the programme followed a challenging 12-week process, competing against 400 applicants for 125 domestic positions. This achievement highlights her determination and mindset.
Tayla expressed her gratitude, saying, “Being chosen for the Rudi Milesi Scholarship again is an absolute honour. It eases financial strain and allows me to dedicate myself entirely to my education. I’m excited about the positive impact this opportunity will have on my journey toward becoming a large animal Vet in South Taranaki.”
The Rudi Milesi Estate was transferred to the Taranaki Foundation in June 2021. Annually, the Foundation awards two scholarships worth $1,250 each, aimed at supporting and encouraging South Taranaki students pursuing degrees in Drama or Veterinary Science. This initiative reflects a commitment to nurturing aspiring professionals and underscores the importance of community support in shaping their futures.
A massive well-done and best of luck for your studies Zoe and Tayla!
