Coastal Taranaki Health Trust was formed in 2006 with a vision of retaining local health services and a mission to provide a facility and structure that can deliver health and social services for the people of Coastal Taranaki.
The Trust became confident that creating a “home” for everyone involved in primary health, social and emergency services that encouraged a holistic, collaborative and integrated approach to service delivery was a winning solution, particularly for isolated rural communities in need. The dream of a one stop, multi-purpose health and social wellbeing facility came to fruition in 2015
CoastalCare now houses a GP practice but is also home to 26 different service providers – everything from a Pharmacy, Plunket services, St John ambulance and NZ Post. It includes counselling provision, district health board services, dental services, podiatry, foodbank, transportation service, audiology and an optometrist. For Coastal Taranaki this represents a true hub or one-stop ‘shop’ of health and wellbeing.
CoastalCare has partnered with Taranaki Foundation to provide a pathway for bequest funding from its supporters that will help build financial security and sustainability for the future.
