Protecting Kiwi for Future Generations
Taranaki Kiwi Trust is dedicated to protecting, restoring and growing populations of western brown kiwi across our region.
Established in 2001, the Trust works alongside iwi, landowners, volunteers, schools, conservation partners and the wider community to help ensure this iconic taonga species continues to thrive in the wild.
Their vision is simple yet ambitious – Kiwi from Rare to Everywhere.
Through predator control, kiwi monitoring, translocations, habitat restoration and community education, the Trust is helping return the unmistakable call of kiwi to the Taranaki landscape.
Why This Fund Matters
Protecting kiwi is a long-term commitment.
While today’s support helps fund conservation work now, restoring healthy kiwi populations takes decades of ongoing care, investment and community effort.
The Taranaki Kiwi Trust Fund has been established to provide a permanent source of funding that will help sustain this important work for generations to come.
Income generated through the Fund will contribute to predator control, kiwi monitoring, habitat restoration and translocations across Taranaki, while also supporting the dedicated team of staff, contractors and volunteers who make this work possible.
Just as importantly, the Fund invests in the partnerships that underpin successful conservation, supporting iwi, landowners, schools, community groups and conservation organisations working together to protect one of Aotearoa’s most treasured native species.
