Pukekura Park Fund

Pukekura Park is one of Taranaki’s most treasured places.

The Pukekura Park Fund has been established to help celebrate, enhance and care for this much-loved part of our region, including the Bowl of Brooklands and Brooklands Zoo.

About the fund

NP Partners is working closely with New Plymouth District Council and a group of partners, including Boon Architects, on a programme of projects identified through the updated Pukekura Park Reserve Management Plan.

Together, these projects will help ensure Pukekura Park continues to be a place for people to gather, connect, enjoy nature, attend events and create memories for generations to come.

Planned improvements include:

  • New flexible spaces at the Bowl of Brooklands
  • A new Bellringer Pavilion in an improved location
  • An appealing new entry plaza and information space
  • A renovated waterway feature on the main lake dam
  • Tea House upgrades
  • Brooklands Zoo upgrades, including improved habitats and educational signage

Brooklands Zoo

Design work has begun on the first phase of upgraded habitats at Brooklands Zoo, including new spaces for the Asian small-clawed otters and free-flight aviaries. Improved educational signage will also complement the enhanced facilities, with construction commencing in 2026.
