Fitzroy Surf Life Saving – Spirit of Fitzroy Fund

Thanks to a generous gift from the Brian Rudd Estate, the Fitzroy Surf Life Saving – Spirit of Fitzroy Fund has been established to support the future of our Club.

Brian was a Life Member, Club Patron and former President, as well as a long-serving and highly respected member of the Club. He was also well known in the banking industry as General Manager of TSB over a long period of time.

Established in 1921, Fitzroy Surf Life Saving Club (FSLSC) is a proud voluntary organisation that has long been at the heart of Fitzroy Beach – New Plymouth’s most popular beach. As the very first surf life saving club on this 1.6km stretch of coastline, generations of dedicated volunteers have spent more than a century giving their time, energy and care to keep others safe, saving countless lives along the way.

FSLSC also plays a vital role in building confident, empathetic and community-minded young people, many of whom go on to represent New Zealand and achieve remarkable success both at home and across the Tasman. Above all, it creates a strong sense of belonging, pride and service that stays with our members for life.

This Fund will enable us to nurture and support both our current members and the next generation of surf life savers, ensuring we continue to serve and protect our Taranaki community, including visitors to the region, for years to come.
